Breast Cancer Awareness – UniqueLinensOnline.com

I will never forget the day my mother called to let me know she had been diagnosed with breast cancer.  I see my surroundings, I hear my mothers voice and I see myself sitting on my kitchen floor trying to process the information my mother was giving me.  It seems so long ago but yet only yesterday.

My mother was 61 years old when she was diagnosed in January of 1991.  She went through chemo and radiation treatments and lived in remission long enough to do some of the things she most enjoyed in life.  She was able to travel to see each of her eight children, making sure they were all OK, almost as if she knew she hadn’t much time.  And she didn’t.  Mom passed away in November from the cancer she had been diagnosed with just 10 months earlier.

My mother called me in late October and told me how tired she was.  I knew then that her fight was coming to an end.  She had battled hard, faced the demon head on and gave it all she got.  She was brave, courageous, humorous, humbled and strong to the end.  As her final days approached, Dad called his eight children to let us know it was time to come home.  Several of us made it the day before she passed away and mom was in and out of consciousness.  As I sat with a couple of my siblings beside my mothers’ bed, mom woke up, looked at her children and said, “you silly kids, why are you all here.”  Hanging on to her sense of humor to the very end, these were the last words I heard her say.  The next day she passed away, surrounded by family.  Every single day I miss her.

The pink ribbon of hope has been forever present in my life from that day on.  I have worn it to honor my mother, celebrate my sister’s triumph as a survivor and remember far to many to name.  It is a symbol instantly recognized by millions across the world.  It signifies the very core belief of all humans, the one thing that we all possess and have in common, the one thing that continues to drive us forward when faced with immense adversity….HOPE!

We are proud to introduce the newest collection from Denali Throws.  Two blankets both adorning this magnificent symbol.  The Pink Ribbon series would make a wonderful gift to someone who is fighting the fight, celebrating the victory or as a thank you for the ever tireless caregiver.  The blanket will wrap them in love as they face their battle, remind them of their valiant fight or provide the warmth of a friends love when wrapped around their shoulders.  Give those you love a gift of warmth and they will always be wrapped securely in your support.

To all of those fighting, keep going, face it bravely, you are amazing.  To those we have lost, we miss you, honor you, humbled by your spirit.
